Government Update

The president recently accused the former prime minister of using her position to pay off over a billion USD in debts a company she once headed now owes. So things are getting ugly.

The acting prime minister has been seen warmly greeting the former president (that everyone was trying to get rid of during the Orange Revolution) so we aren't sure what all this means.

The old president's son-in-law, one of the richest men in Ukraine, is delighted the prime minister is gone since she was involved in re-nationalizing many of his assets. Others are disappointed that the government today announced they will not be looking at any of the old privatization deals which put enormous amounts of wealth in the hands of a few people through very shady deals during the previous president's administration.

Confused? So are we.

We were celebrating today at the UEC--Sergiy got a document he had been working on getting for over a year! It has five of the seven signatures we need to finish this little step in a much bigger process of getting all our p's and q's in line.
