Here's a pic of Polina with her first Diet Coke. Actually, she just took it from me and held it to keep herself a little cooler. There is, by the way, a great Diet Coke famine occurring throughout the land. I'm not sure what has happened but there are only a few bottles left. Maybe people are hoarding it.
Yanukovych is officially prime minister. I won't say anything more for fear I will throw up all over the keyboard.
Sunday we said good bye to Paul Prill in the morning and made it to church before the sermon was over. I had some sort of allergy attack while there and had to stay outside most of the time. There was a big crowd of over 40. For August, that's basically a miracle. I was expecting 10-12 maybe. We had the Zhyvovy family over for lunch and they stayed a long while. We enjoyed good conversation with them. Monday it seemed everyone decided to call us and we had to help get a much-needed document sent on a train for someone to pick up on the other end. We went into the DHL office to find out how much it would cost to send through them. More than 2o USD. About $2 on the train. You just find a train worker who agrees to take it, pay them a little, and the other person has to meet that train and that car on the other end to get the document. People do this all the time, and apparently it works pretty well. You can send eggs, documents, jars of pickles, whatever you can get to the train and get someone to pick up on the other end.
The Broadways came over for dinner tonight. Actually, they helped me get UEC books from the post office and then cooked half the dinner. We were especially delighted to find that the Furshet near the train station had reopened after the fire and is much, much better. Check it out, Kyivites. Tram 1 from KPI.
