We had a good group meeting tonight. Not an easy meeting, but a good one. There was much sadness shared. Difficulties, life problems, illness, change. We prayed. The group is going to study James together.

Today Lena and I worked on immigration forms and papers and documents. The visa interview is Monday morning. Say a prayer for us.

I have begun cooking for the arrival of Lena's family. Lena has recently acquired some rhubarb but it's green. I have read there is a green variety. Anyone know if this is OK to cook with?

I have also Skyped and Facebooked this week. How odd our world has become. I don't think I will become a regular Facebooker (the whole thing seems a bit narcissistic at times). Need we know so much about people we don't really know? Am I being old fashioned? A bit of a Luddite?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I rarely say anything about American politics. Thanks to CNN, I was able to listen to about 45 minutes each of both of the recent presidential debates. Since I will be living in America again, I am trying to catch up on what is going on (hence the recent exploration into Facebook). I have a few comments: why were the Republicans answering questions about the theory of evolution? Why was Romney asked about his being a Mormon? Who cares what any of them would do with Bush or Clinton? I don't know who decided what to talk about, but about half of what I heard was just idiotic, senseless, and a waste of electrons.

I was glad to see some extended discussion on immigration and the war. But what about Social Security? Isn't it still in crisis? Isn't it about to collapse or did something happen while I was gone? And while there was a little discussion of health care, doesn't it deserve significantly more time than evolution or gays in the military? Guess I have been too engrossed in Ukrainian politics to pay much attention to the US. And when I did, I was sort of shocked. I did, though, like the comments of the candidates that know they won't get the nomination. They seemed to be able to say what they really thought without posturing or trying to be politically cute or careful.
