Ministry Update: Natalya

Natalya was not well enough today to come to the assembly. We did, though, figure where we are in terms of raising funds for her chemotherapy treatment. The church gave more than $300 today and in addition to what several people have given from the US, including a few blog readers, enough funds are currently available to pay for the next treatment which she will receive this Wednesday, and we have about $400 toward the treatment that will follow in about 2 weeks. There are some more funds from the US, but they are stuck in a bank account and due to some kind of snag in transferring funds, this money isn't currently available. We don't know exactly how much that is, about $200 I think. So it looks like we need about $1800 to cover the 6th treatment.

So we really need some help with these funds. I think the church will give more next Sunday, but it most likely won't be enough to cover the costs of the next treatment (sixth treatment). I guess after this treatment the doctor will have an idea of how many more treatments will be needed (originally he said 5-10). Natalya's relatives have been helping; basically, everyone is being called on to give and many have responded. It's just expensive ($2,200 per treatment).

Put a note in the envelope or on the check that it's for Natalya. It's the only thing they are collecting money for so it won't get confused. Maybe your small group would like to give some or maybe there is a cancer survivor you know that might be interested in helping. Some retired people in my hometown have given $10. Small amounts add up.

Otherwise things are calm in Kyiv.
