No Strudel
I am saddened to report that there was no strudel at the Oktoberfest. What was there? A lot of Ukrainian pop music, only one German that I could see, no polka band, a little lederhosen, damp pretzels, and a hefty entrance food that got you a big nothing! We won't be going back to Oktoberfest next year, but it was nice to hear those three German songs and the sauerkraut wasn't bad.
Lena had her spiritual training group this morning and then we headed off for that long-awaited shoe purchase. Seems my three-year-old shoes were just worn out. And had actually become painful to walk in. Thankfully, I am still wearing summer sandals for now (with two pairs of socks). Seems we may be skipping fall this year and heading straight into winter. It has been oddly warm, well--not really warm, just not cold and rainy like it usually is in September.
I'm preaching tomorrow on the transfiguration. What a powerful story but there is something odd about it to the modern reader. Maybe if I had been there it would make a lot more sense. Hopefully I will be able to help us see some truth.
