Ukrainians, much more so than Americans, love to celebrate birthdays--age is no matter. Any opportunity to have a dinner party is welcome. I had a birthday party on Thursday. Wow, it was a cooking frenzy, with lots of chopping, slicing, and dicing. Lena helped imme

nsely as did Vitaly and my mother-in-law Lyuda. It was a Mexican feast. Here are some pics. We also had a surprise guest in from western Ukraine--Ira Prilutskaya Zheka and her daughter Veronika. They were in Kyiv getting a visa and dropped by with our neighbor Katya Mazneva. About 15 enjoyed the celebration that went well after midnight.

Wow, is this November already? My apologies for missing your birthday. Happy belated birthday, Chris! Looks like you had a great party. It is such a pleasant surprise to see Ira and her daughter's pictures. Where were they getting the visas to?
Her husband is doing some working in Scotland and they are going to visit for about 3 weeks. I don't really know what it's about. I never remember anyone's birthday so I don't ever expect anyone to remember mine, to tell the truth.
