Ministry Update: The Weekend
Another weekend, another busy one. Worked on Friday nights as I usually do at the UEC. I spent most of that time sending out a bevy of emails. Since we got Lena's passport with visa and immigration documents and confirmed our plane tickets, it finally came time to make real plans about our departure. Before that, it still seemed to be in the theoretical realm. I called my mom, too. She was glad to hear that everything worked out.
Saturday night we had our usual TV viewing with Oleg and Oksana but before that, I had a long and difficult "ministry conversation" with someone. Can't say much about the details, but faith is a struggle and the Enemy seems relentless in his efforts to take our faith away. It was also one of those incredibly hot days where the apartment seems to swell with heat.
Sunday I preached my last sermon, this one from Isaiah 42 on the justice of God. Ira, who is having cancer surgery this week, was there and we prayed for her. Then, Lena and I headed downtown to eat and to plan the last two weeks in Kyiv and the first month in America. We made some progress. Then, after we got home, another friend came over for some relaxing and ministry conversation.
We've finally started seriously considering how we are going to pack, how this is all going to happen. Mostly, I just pray the heat lets up a bit.
