Snow and a Revised Song
We're getting back to work today after the holiday. We are still struggling at the UEC to keep things open since our workes continue to struggle with illness. Pray for Lera as she is quite sick. We got a new coating of snow late last night. I guess we are up to 18" now. This is certainly the most snow I can remember in the 8 winters I've been here.
Remember the Eurovision song we blogged about earlier? They've now decided the group Greenjolly has to change the lyrics or they will be disqualified. The BBC has the story. The deadline for the new lyrics is Thursday. The government has decided that Europeans will not have to have visas to enter Ukraine for Eurovision. In other news, Yushchenko's Austrian doctor claims the scarring on his face from the dioxin poisoning will fade in several months. And Yulia Tymoshenko, the firebrand prime minister who played a key role in the Orange Revolution, is featured in European Time.
Keep praying for Jonathan Shaub. He's showing some signs of improvement.

Now that Discoshaman is on hiatus, you're taking over as the Kyiv newsblogger. You know what I have to say about that? Nice.
You know, "Razom Nice Bahato" has a good beat, but the *specific* political words--mentioning Yushchenko's name, mentioning falsified election results--do date the song and thus limit it. I think a remix with more general words is a good idea.
And it will surely be a crowdpleaser, whether it wins or not.

We'll do our best with the news. It challenges me to read the Russian website to figure out what the Ukrainian media thinks is important, not just what the west occasionally chooses to report. Thanks for reading, Joe St.
