A Day in the Life

I've had my head in anthropology books today trying to finish this course. Lena was working at the Center and meeting with people. One of our small groups met tonight. We are studying Ephesians.

I've finally decided how and when to launch our new English outreach. It will start next Thursday and we are inviting UEC patrons to attend. Already one church member has volunteered to help. We pray that between 25-30 will attend. It's always a little exciting when you start something new. A sense of hope of meeting new people, serving them, and sharing my language and my faith.

The students at ICU are approaching finals and will soon leave Kyiv for a couple of weeks. We've already noticed a decline in traffic at the UEC. We were saddened to say good bye to Lena Zhyvova as she returns to Paris; she hopes to be back in Kyiv this summer. Oleg Skutsenya, our good friend who works in far western Ukraine, is rumored to be coming to Kyiv for the weekend. Lera Cherednichenko, one of the UEC managers and a strong church member, is coming over for dinner tomorrow night. So I will have to pull my head out of those anthropology texts and get back in the kitchen.

It's still so nice and warm in Kyiv. And we've already experienced our first hot water outage so we know the summer is close!!
