First English Class

Had our first English outreach class tonight. Some people who promised to come didn't. Maybe next week. We had four people. Hopefully it will grow. One was about 8 years old. His mother brought him. This class combines reading texts with English for special purposes, especially business English. So tonight little Vlad was learning what an export is, what human resource management is, and what a sales assistant does. I guess I am inadvertently turning them all into capitalists. Another was a student at the Economics University who is studying to be a lawyer. Another works in a tourist agency. Pray for little Vlad, his mother Carolina, Olga, and Lara.

The Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko cancelled her trip to Moscow because the Russian government still has an arrest warrant out for her. The president just fired several more people at high levels of government who had been appointed by the previous regime. And one minister announced that within days Ukraine would be invited to join NATO. That should cause some excitement.
