Krakow was home to John Paul II and his image is everywhere. There are so many priests and nuns running around Krakow. And there are lots of Catholic churches. Poland is an entirely Catholic stronghold. Since most churches are left open, we went in one during the day and a mass was starting. Many people came in. The words to the songs were projected on a screen with a slide projector.

These little round pretzel-type things are sold everywhere. And the price ranges from 70 hroshy to 1 zloty (about 30 cents). The word hroshy in Ukrainian is the word for money but in Polish it refers to their coins. There are lots of odd linguistic gymnastics. It's especially dangerous when someone who knows English, Russian, and Ukrainian hits the streets. You are tempted to think you can get around but then that awful reality hits that Polish is not a blend of Ukrainian, Russian, and English. It's its own little language.
