The Day Before

The hot water finally came back on. Let there be praise. It is an annual ritual in Ukraine. Many cities do not have hot water sometimes all summer or they have it only for an hour or two a day. So, we are blessed really.

Today we got ready for the wedding. Sergiy and I worked on our secret project a little. Others made decorations and decorated. Some were cooking. Others practiced skits and performance at the UEC tonight. I left the Center a little after 11. I finished up the wedding ceremony. Lena made sure it made sense by translating my Russian and English. Even though it makes sense to me to say it a certain way in Russian, it's usually not the best way.

Anyway, on Thursday we went shopping. 70 pounds of potatoes. Crates of tomatoes and apples. Piles of chicken that we had to wait on for quite a while. At one point, we had three huge shopping carts completely full, just left them in the store, and went over to the neighboring Puzata Hata to have lunch. Anton and Liza were great help. Thankfully, everything fit into the car (that was definitely a miracle) and I didn't have to go with the car to drop off the goods.

But tonight I learned that the tvorog (I have no idea what it is in English, cottage cheese maybe) went sour according to the sanatorium cooks. 18 pounds of the stuff. But I was told that it could be cooked with when sour and that even some people sour it before cooking with it. So I don't know. It's very hard to buy and expensive if bought in small packages. It seems that extra responsibility is falling to Anya Zubkova who has worked very hard in organizing the wedding.

We also discovered as I was leaving the Center tonight that the person we thought was bringing the video projector didn't know he needed to bring it. Hopefully, YWAM will supply us with one.

If it all comes together, it truly will be a miracle. But no matter what, they will be married, we will all have a good time, and life will move on.

More on Sunday, I guess. I should be preparing the Sunday sermon now but I am waiting for an email before going to bed.
