On Saturday, we had hoped to go to the forest but then we thought it was going to rain. Then we decided to go to the zoo. I actually hate zoos. But we can see the Kyiv Zoo from the second floor of the UEC and have always wondered what is there. But then it rained. Then, we decided to just go downtown to eat. People everywhere. Everywhere. Lines, lines, lines. We finally agreed to get something to go. It did rain pretty much all over Kyiv, so we were home for the evening. We made the terrible mistake of watching Aviator. It was on the used sale rack at Blockbuster when we were in the States. Oh, what a mistake.

Sunday was much better. The first genuinely warm day of the year. I actually left the apartment without a coat. We had a great meeting before church today about the future of our small group ministry. It had been on hold for many weeks and now we are really moving forward. We even have suggestions for who will constitute the new groups. I preached on the Great Commissions, and we stayed at the building a couple hours longer for preparations for Vitaly and Lera's wedding on May 27. You see, there has to be entertainment at these weddings and the church members provide that entertainment. So we have practice after church. And since the wedding is getting closer, I have a feeling the practices are going to increase. Too bad the younger crowd is in the US this summer. They would bring a lot of energy. Then, off to eat. We got home at 11.30 just in time to call Mom and wish her a happy birthday. My brother got a job in Chattangooga and is going to move closer to my parents. My dad is feeling much better and went to church on Sunday.

Still no hot water. But thank God for the shower at the UEC.

I must say I loved The Aviator (we are talking about the Howard Hughes movie, right?). It's such a same more rich people can't do interesting things with their money. And I thought it was a pretty sharp movie. What did you expect? The Age of Innocence on wings?

The Chicago Sun-Times has a nice riff on the Da Vinci Code today: http://www.suntimes.com/output/entertainment/cst-ftr-davinci15.html
