Saying Good Bye

After more than four years of service, Sergiy worked his last day at the UEC. During the day, we were trying to settle a lot of little matters--where is this, does this person know this, do you know anything about this, things like that. We then had a small reception for him during his last work hour. He was supposed to close the Center tonight but we invited church members to come during the last work hour and celebrate with cake, cookies, fruit, and of course, Cola Lite. I gave my usual long speech and we closed this chapter of the UEC's life. Tomorrow, Vitaly opens the Center as the part-time administrator, and both Lera and Vitaly will take over Sergiy's duties. I think Sergiy leaves Kyiv Saturday, will spend a month at home, and then head to Pepperdine.

I also had my English classes today. Some of the students didn't come and the ones who did--well, their brains weren't quite warming up to the rules that govern article usage or present continuous. Alesha is leaving for two weeks, but Olya is still sticking in there with us. She is going to a camp later in the summer. I guess life will come to a screaching halt for about a month.

We are trying to get everyone together for Cherkassy Conference. Paul Prill is coming for that. Should be interesting.

They turned the hot water off completely today, but thankfully, we still have cold.

And with Spain's defeat of Tunisia, if Ukraine can just hold them to a draw, we will advance to the semi-finals.

Wow, it came a massive rain today. It's supposed to rain tomorrow as well. We were soaked by the time we got to the Center.
