Ministry Update
We had a long day at church today. We had sort of a lunch following the service. I preached on the resurrection of Lazarus. Jesus makes this incredible statement in John 11 that "I am LIFE!" Wow. It's just incredible--that he is the life force, he is what keeps the gravity in gravity, cells in our bodies dividing and growing, and the planets in their orbits--and much more of course--it's hard to get your brain around. We were at church for about 5 hours it seemed.
Natalya was at church today. She remain very optimistic though this week she was told that it looks like one tumor (or area of cells) is getting better--the treatment seems to be working--but they found another tumor near or in her liver. With the imprecise language that people use to describe medical conditions it's often hard to figure out exactly what is going on. So there is some progress and some setbacks. Also, she was given some kind of expensive "experimental" treatment but the doctor decided not to use it anymore. She also recommended another very expensive medicine, in addition to the chemotherapy, but Natalya told her she couldn't afford a second expensive treatment. She didn't even ask about how much it costs.
I want to thank all our friends and donors who have given to the treatment fund. So far, just through this medium, $1,195 has been given. The church has given a lot, more than $4,000, and a church in Texas has given a lot. So it's great to see this generosity. If any others are interested in giving, send it to the church my parents go to--Central Church of Christ, PO Box 38, Athens, TN 37303. It will get to us quickly this way. I would like to be able to tell Natalya to get all the treatment she needs.
Ukrainian politics is in the news again. It's going to be a wild week, I have a feeling.
I am also happy to report that all the new couches have been delivered to the UEC and they were able to get them in the rooms without removing door facings. We also found people who were take away the old couches. Attendance picked up at the UEC this week; I was glad to see that also.
