Been somewhat busy since the last blog on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday nights we met with different couples: first, Tanya and Misha and later Nastya and Igor. Of course, it's always a pleasure spending time together and sharing our concerns for the church and the little part of the kingdom God allows us to be in. Igor had just returned from Bogdan's wedding in Washington, so it was great to hear that report. Of course, I attempted to cook for these meetings. Sometimes successful, sometimes not. Generally, when I say we "have someone over for dinner" it usually involves Lena or me or both starting to cook about 4 and guests often leave about midnight!!! Misha and Tanya ate left over soup from our Soup Group that began meeting again. Now we are meeting Tuesday afternoons. We had a great response with the quality of conversation and the interest of Ira and Yura. Only months ago we were concerned about whether or not we would ever see them again and now they are asking questions about how to share their faith with their friends.
Wednesday night we both worked in the Center, still trying to catch up on a few things. Friday I came down with some kind of bizarre exhaustion or something. I thought I was getting the flu but no symptoms developed except for absolute exhaustion and weakness. I stayed home from the Friday group but we were able to have Lera and Vitaly over for supper on Saturday. The reason Lera and Vitaly wanted to come over was to discuss their engagement and wedding!! Praise the Lord, they are going to get married in May! We are all very excited, ecstatic I guess I could say.
On Sunday, we were at church for almost 7 hours. We had a long church meeting then a long church worship service. I preached on Romans 15 and we had a great prayer time and lots of announcements. We have several new initiatives for outreach being planned in the church and many people showing much more initiative. We also created a group of people or a committee to try to develop some long-range plans for the church's life and outreach. That meeting is supposed to be Thursday night, so it will be exciting to see what comes of that.
I have been out of blog world for a while and should be asleep right now. David Ralston has come to Kyiv, and I'm supposed to meet him on Monday.
And then, after the snow melted some, we got more snow today!! It covered up all the ugly stuff that had appeared once the snow melted.
